Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, has urged young people to become agents of narcotics prevention during the Youth Service Camp at the Cibubur Campground here
He emphasized the vital role of youth in protecting the nation’s sovereignty from the threat of drugs, encouraging them to act as change agents and pioneers of a healthy generation movement by promoting leadership, honesty, and social responsibility in the face of modern challenges.
“You must spread awareness about the dangers of narcotics. We all must agree that narcotics are useless and extremely harmful to intelligence, health, and spirituality,” Commissioner General Suyudi said, as quoted from an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He called on members of the Indonesian Muslim Students Association (HMI), who took part in the Youth Service Camp, to be at the forefront of efforts to prevent drug abuse in Indonesia.
The BNN chief also mentioned the policy direction set by President Prabowo Subianto, which prioritizes human development and the eradication of narcotics as key elements in building a sovereign, advanced, and prosperous Indonesia.
The Youth Service Camp gathered dozens of HMI cadres from various regions Indonesia to strengthen their spirit of nationalism, leadership, and commitment to realizing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045.
With the theme Asta Cita and The Long Path of Youth: From the Challenges of the Times to a Sovereign Indonesia, the camp not only served as a platform for character building but also as a space for dialogue between the government and the younger generation.
Among the attendees were MPR Vice Chairman Abcandra Akbar Supratman, Special Presidential Envoy for Youth and Arts Affairs Raffi Ahmad, Chairman of the HMI General Secretariat Bagas Kurniawan, Director of Public Relations at Bank BNI Munadi Herlambang, and Director of Business at Bank Banten Bambang Widyatmoko.
BNN sees events like this as a strategic moment to instill collective awareness about the importance of the "War on Drugs for Humanity" as part of the nation’s struggle for independence.
With the spirit of youth and cross-sector collaboration, BNN remains committed to realizing a drug-free Indonesia, or Indonesia Bersinar, sovereign on its own land.
