Christian Pulisic contract update emerges after Alexi Lalas raised AC Milan transfer theory

Two years into his AC Milan career, and the Rossoneri are already prepared to hand Christian Pulisic a new contract. The U.S. Men’s National Team star, 26, is currently mid-way through a deal that is set to expire in the summer of 2027.

Pulisic has rediscovered his form since moving to Italy from Chelsea, leading the team in goal contributions since his arrival and in both goals and assists this season. A key figure in head coach Sergio Conceicao’s lineup, which has been chopped and changed since his December arrival, Milan seemingly wants to ensure that Pulisic remains a core member of their squad for years to come as further changes to much of the struggling team appear imminent.

Milan is said to be almost prepared to offer Pulisic a new deal for a further year, including the option to extend this through 2029, as per the Italian outlet Gazzetta. This update comes days after a Pulisic brace secured Milan’s 3-2 comeback win against Lecce, ending their three-game Serie A losing streak.

“It's a very difficult moment for us, and this was a very important victory,” Pulisic told DAZN after the win, via ESPN. “[But] we are a very united group, we demonstrated it with this very important win.”

Conceicao was also full of praise for Pulisic following his latest excellent performance, complimenting his versatility after switching to the left wing in place of the benched Rafael Leao.

“Starting from the wing, he feels very comfortable in the central corridor, then it depends on the game,” he said. “Today, he started on the left, he is a player with great technical qualities and very intelligent. He can play behind the striker or on the wings, but coming inside is the best position.”

Milan’s win not only stopped the slide down the Serie A table but also helped ease the growing pressure on the Italian giants. This unwanted attention had only grown following reports of supposed issues between Conceicao and a number of players.

One such player suggestedly struggling to gel with Conceicao was Pulisic, with la Repubblica claiming he had requested a transfer, as per Milan Press. The American was quick to refute these claims, releasing a damning statement on the team’s X in response.

“I have never argued with the Coach and I have never asked to leave,” Pulisic said. “I am very happy at Milan and I want to continue wearing this shirt. Reading these lies is unacceptable, but let's all continue to remain united and fight together on the pitch, for the Club and for our fans.”

Following Pulisic’s strongly worded response, ex-USMNT defender turned Fox Sports analyst Alexi Lalas gave his two cents on the situation on his State of the Union podcast. Lalas claimed he did not buy into suggestions “That this is a ‘Where there’s smoke there’s fire’ thing, or that he had a gun held to his head and had to write this thing.

“It sounds like it was something that he wanted to correct. It doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have problems with people either on or off the field at AC Milan, that kind of drama and that kind of dynamic exists anywhere that you go. But I think he just wanted to nip it in the bud.”
